Thanks Blackhawks for the First Ever Training Camp!
For most of us, Training Camp is as on-the-glass as it will ever get for us. Those seats are usually reserved for the corporate flunkies who can’t even appreciate them. So how magical it was (for $5 a ticket!) to be able to have nearly a front-row seat on the glass to watch the Blackhawks scrimmage!
It was my birthday, and almost as if Sharpie knew, he slapped a puck to my friend sitting next to me (who I’m guessing wished he’d been wearing a cup when the puck came whirling into his, let’s just say, “lap”). He had a brief moment of glory, holding up the prized frozen puck (something to ice down his marbles with) on the jumbotron, before he turned to me and gifted me with the puck. “Happy Birthday” he said, and he was right. It was a very happy birthday. It will be even better when/if I have a chance to have Sharpie sign that puck.
All in all, it was one of the best days of my life. It was definitely the best birthday I ever had. So the fans owe a special debt of gratitude to the Blackhawks organization for this brainchild. This Hawks fan definitely thanks all of you — the Blackhawks organization and the players and coaches who probably felt like they were swimming in a fishbowl all day with all of us gawking at them.
