Blues Singin’ the Blues…And So Are We…Kinda

For once, the War Room in Toronto ruled no-goal in the Hawks’ favor in the second period of the Hawks/Blues game tonight. Seems to me that doesn’t happen often. For some reason Chicago teams always seem to play the role of underdog. Don’t know why that is, just know that it is so. That decision led to the Hawks’ 2-1 win over the Blues.

But what was with the Hawks not being able to clear the zone in the first half of the second period during the Blues’ power play? Isn’t that what special teams is supposed to do, act as penalty killers while clearing the zone? In the second period, the Blues had 22 shots on goal (most of them on the Blues’ power play) to the Hawks’ 12. And Aaron Johnson’s easily avoided 3rd period penalty for tripping led to the Blues scoring on the power play. Why all the penalties?

Though the Hawks won, this game was painful to watch.
