Thanks Hawks!
Thank you Blackhawks for a great season!!!
Thank you Blackhawks for a great season!!!
The very hard Kronwall hit on Martin Havlat (which did not appear to be a dirty hit, despite what some Hawks fans and Brian Campbell would like to believe) in game three of the Western Conference Finals match-up between the Blackhawks and the Red Wings would come to bear in game four. Jonathan Toews, who would end up scoring the only goal for the Hawks in game four, said before the game that the Hawks weren’t out for revenge on Niklas Kronwall for his “dirty” hit on Havlat. No, seemed the Hawks were looking to self-destruct instead, probably as a result of being psyched out by the Kronwall hit, though only the Hawks know for sure. (more…)
Warning, this clip from the Blackhawks/Red Wings game yesterday of Adam Burish getting cut by Ben Eager’s skate after a check goes awry is a bit graphic with the close-up and all, so if you can’t handle the sight of blood, DO NOT WATCH IT!!
Oh my gosh, this looks even worse than yesterday when I saw it. It is a miracle that Adam Burish did not get cut so severely that he bled out! This has got to be a hockey player’s (and a fan’s) worst nightmare! Thank God (and I did) Bur was not seriously injured!
While Adam Burish’s sneaky wrap-around goal (unassisted) in the first period of the Hawks/Red Wings Western Conference Finals game one match-up today was a sight to behold, the Hawks bumbling cost them. Brent Seabrook whiffed an easy pass off a face-off for a Dan Cleary steal and Duncan Keith did not block Cleary’s ensuing breakaway which led to the Red Wings’ first 1st period goal. (more…)

How could they make these games so hard to see?? Don’t they know how many people don’t get Versus??? I couldn’t even order it from my cable company if I wanted to pay their exorbitant prices! How could they do this to us in the run up to the cup??? HOW??? It’s like last year all over again where fans had to scratch and claw to be able to see ANY games on TV!
And in case you’re wondering why I haven’t written any posts about the Hawks/Canucks games lately, see the post below this one. I just can’t quite enjoy the games as much with all the fairweather fans, so I don’t feel like writing right now. I will however congratulate Patrick Kane on his hat trick Monday night (good to see Kaner shake off the goldfish to score the first hat trick of his NHL career), Jonathan Toews on his two (typical excellence from Tazer with or without the flu), Adam Burish on his one (and just a stellar game from Bur) and the Hawks themselves on an outstanding game. Like other actual fans, I’m nervous about who the Hawks play next. The Hawks playing the Ducks with James Wisniewski on the team now will be a little bittersweet, and of course the Red Wings…well…we’ll all have to familiarlize ourselves with our local seafood purveyor and pre-order up some octopi to skewer!
Where was the misconduct call on Kevin Bieksa for his cheap shot on Patrick Sharp after the 2nd period had ended in tonight’s semi-finals match-up between the Hawks and the Canucks? And after two games in Vancouver I think we can safely say that the officiating has decidedly gone in the Canucks’ favor despite the Hawks’ 6-3 win over the Canucks tonight. Makes you wonder how much refs go for. (more…)
I can’t comment on last night’s Hawks/Canucks semi-final match-up since once again Versus has bollocksed up the viewing of a Hawks game (which I’m sure a large portion of Hawks fans were unable to see since, if they’re anything like me, Versus is not available to them). It’s unfathomable that these cable channels are still playing games with our…games. Isn’t that what deregulation was for, to keep certain channels or provisioners from monopolizing all the sporting events? Well here’s to you Versus. I hope all you monocle-wearing, money-bags holding, driving-around-on-Boardwalk bastards are happy!
